It will be difficult for you to be good at two things at the same time. There are some people who believe that in order to be a good humane publisher you need to be able to understand the pangs of a writer as well. Only then can you at least deal with the problems of both books writing and publishing. Over the years, these two fields have become very specialized leading to numerous players in each.
