Are you using wireless DSL?
January 5th, 2008 | by admin |Your DSL connection is always connected. No more dialing in or getting busy signals, or having your Internet connection suddenly die because someone picked up the phone in the other room. And you’ll see web pages load much faster than with a dial-up connection—25 to 50 times faster! And, for convenience sake, use wireless dsl.
You will need a DSL modem, but these days most installations include the modem as part of the package. The modem converts your computer input into a digital signal and sends it along the phone line in "packets", which are put back together on the other end.
But not everything is shiny and bright with DSL broadband service. That great "always on" feature can mean security risks. There have been several well-publicized articles about hackers coming in through someone’s "open back door"—an always-on connection—and hacking into the computer system. Identity theft, loss of funds, and the hassles of correcting it all can quickly follow.
