Idiots - Rare Coins

August 25th, 2008 | by admin |

What I find absolutely amazing about coin collecting is the different values assigned to a coin. The U.S. half cent coin for instance. Rare coin numismatics experts agree that it is a rare coin indeed, it was produced from 1793 to 1857. It’s value was 0.005 of a dollar, in terms of todays purchasing power it would be worth about 10 cents, however it has a value to collectors that ranges from $1200 to around $6000 given its over all condition.

You know that somewhere in this country there is some county bumpkin raiding his long since dead, great great granddaddies box of personal items trying scrounge up 600 of these half cent coins he found in the great great granddads jacket pocket so he can go out and buy a pack of smokes.
