What’s the difference between apple juice and apple cider?

When I go to the grocery store, I saw a bottle of apple cider and a bottle of apple juice. I bought them, and they tasted exactly the same. Am I missing something?

“Cider” is what you get when you take a bunch of fresh apples and put them through a blender. Cider is unprocessed and appears dark, brown, and cloudy and usually contains the pulp of the apple. If you then take this cider and process it to clarify the juice, you get “apple juice”.

The difference is marketing. The products are the same, the juice of apples. Usually if it it is filtered, it is labeled as juice, but not always.
