Here are the basic steps of bible study that will help you as you read an entire chapter or even book of the Bible, or even one verse. First, try to paraphrase what you have read. If you can restate the reading in your own words, you will be able to better understand its meaning. Second, ask questions about what you have read. Perhaps there is a word with which you are unfamiliar or a reference to an event you don't know about. Use the index or a Biblical encyclopedia to find the answers. Third, look for cross references in other parts of the Bible. Finally, search for meaning and ways you can apply the Word of God.
